If your cabinets do not meet the ceiling, you probably have some over-the-cabinet space for displaying treasures or even for storing seldom-used items.
Hang a pot rack from your ceiling to display your cook-ware when it's not in use.
Hang drying flowers and herbs from pegs mounted on your wall near the ceiling. (Or make this look permanent by stenciling such a scene in the same spot.)
Many people with ample space in their kitchens also like to add a desk to catch bills, correspondence, and other personal papers.
